Your time is precious...
If you're tired of pointless conversations, endless meetings and feeling like you're getting nowhere, it's time for change.
Together we achieve real results in real time
Change is easier than you think...
Resistance (our own and others') can be smashed -
once you identify what it is that's getting in your way.
When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change!
You CAN be successful and fulfilled...
And once you learn how, there's no turning back.
You'll wish you'd known and done these things years ago.
Make the difference and impact you were born to make
We all have so much potential and if we get to the end of our lives without using every single bit of it, being the best we can be, that's a massive waste of positive change the world has missed out on.
It's also a lifetime of deep regret - for all the things we didn't do, but wish we had.
After years of jumping from job to job, trying to figure out the difference I'm here to make, it gradually became blindingly obvious. If I could help just one person break free from the mental chains that keep them stuck, my life will have been worthwhile.
Fast forward 15 years and I am incredibly fortunate and excited to have the opportunity every day to help my clients turn their possibilities into reality!
Possibility to Reality (or P2R as we like to call it) was set up in 2005 to help aspiring leaders, teams and organisations take what's possible and make it real. We hear so much about 'failed change' and too many change initiatives unwittingly make this a self-fulfilling prophecy.
No one starts out with the intent to fail and most of us know what we need to do. Yet, for whatever reason, we just don't do it or 'doing it' becomes too hard. Our intent is to smash that myth and help you close the 'knowing/doing' gap through:
I have been fortunate to work with Caroline for three periods of time, each related to new positions. When I gained my first acting executive position Caroline supported me in establishing myself in the role, then applying and being successfully appointed. Caroline provides a good balance of challenge and support in her coaching. She leads you in setting aspirational goals and then working through how these can be achieved in a very practical way. I didn't hesitate to re-engage Caroline when applying and moving into two further positions, as I knew that she would help me to quickly build a strong vision and plan for implementation. And apart from that, she's a great listener and helps me to keep things in perspective, including encouraging fun and balance in life! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Caroline to friends and colleagues.
Thank you for the workshop you provided yesterday as part of our planning and review day. The feedback from the team was extremely positive and people very much enjoyed the opportunity to reflect on their work in the context of past, present and future directions.
Caroline has been my Executive Coach since 2012 - first as part of a Leadership Development program and later as I transitioned into my current CEO role. Whether it be enabling me to resolve the daily challenges of senior leadership, drive strategic change or align my personal and professional aspirations, Caroline creates a safe and supportive space to develop my ideas and decide what action I will take. She is an astute sounding board and trusted advisor who has helped me achieve my goals, adapt and thrive as a senior leader.
Caroline's talk was an inspiring and invaluable experience. Her strategies for dealing with emotional stress are so simple, yet powerful. This talk was the highlight for me.
After my first hour with Caroline I was sure that I could benefit enormously from her help. I felt I had been talking to a friend and I was so comfortable in Caroline’s company.
I was amazed at the change I could feel in myself after each session. I’m more confident than ever before and while I feel so positive after speaking with Caroline, I’ve also learned techniques and questions to ask myself which help me get through situations on my own, as I confront them.
Each time I have gone to Caroline with something that is a causing concern she has been able to help me feel that I can deal with the situation. Even a problem that I couldn’t imagine could be made easy, was made manageable by breaking it down into small steps. I have since used the strategy we came up with and was very happy to find that I could approach my task without the usual dread. In fact, my new approach was so successful and positive that my confidence has grown even more.
I could not be more grateful to Caroline, as she has opened up so many possibilities for me by asking questions that really make me think and allowing me to work through challenges.
Caroline's enthusiasm and expertise as an executive coach is legendary. Responsible for transforming lives and helping to create possibilities and making outcomes achievable. Caroline changed my life.
Caroline exceeded all my expectations. From our first session I found her to be extremely approachable and attentive. She was dedicated and passionate about me achieving my goals and her knowledge and wisdom was ever present. Her positive and enthusiastic manner was contagious and I found myself feeling on top of the moon after every session.
She has provided me with clarity and a new focus around my future. She has changed my mindset for the better. I now have the tools to move myself past things blocking my path. I have learnt the benefit of ‘effective questioning’. I can achieve my dream job – it’s just a question of taking action. You can tell she truly loves her job.
My experience of working with you has been energising and inspirational. The strategic planning process with the Board was the most engaging that I have been involved in thus far. You seemed to be able to keep the ideas flowing, and to adapt the process according to the information exchange as it was happening. You worked with teams through all levels of the organisation to not only focus on our core business, but to do some magical thinking about the future and where it could take us.
Caroline expertly designed and facilitated a program for a group of our emerging leaders. She created a safe yet challenging learning environment that allowed the participants to learn, grow and stretch themselves. Caroline brought wisdom, great energy, humour and a genuine desire for results. The program delivered a demonstrable shift in awareness of self for the participants and awareness about their leadership presence and shadow. Our emerging leaders also walked away with some great tools in their leadership tool kit. The feedback from the program and its impact on participants has been excellent. Thank-you Caroline!
Caroline was exceptional at drawing out what lay dormant in me. Her strategies are simple but highly effective in assisting me to develop strong high level skills to run a large, highly complex, challenging and values driven government program. I found the experience of working of working with Caroline highly empowering by providing me with the ability to make the best of my people, my boss and of course me. She is well trained and very skilled at her job but most importantly to me - she is real, kind and challenging!
Caroline has been a wonderful coach/mentor to me over the last 6 months. She has vast knowledge and experience along with an excellent array of tools. Using this knowledge and experience Caroline was able to challenge and push me in the areas of career planning and leadership along with helping me to become more consciously aware of my strengths and leadership skills. I certainly gained a lot in a short period and have no hesitation in recommending Caroline.
Caroline is an excellent speaker. She was fantastic at the pre-workshop as well - so engaging and relatable. I gained so much that I will take away and actually use.
Caroline’s coaching is both supportive and challenging, I have learnt so much about myself as a human being and as a Senior Executive Leader. Caroline’s leadership and coaching provides a platform for meaningful reflection, creation of new behaviours and habits and deep professional personal growth. I cannot thank Caroline enough for her time and commitment to my development and growth. Forever grateful
Working with Caroline has been inspirational. Through her persistence and probing questioning, results were achieved in a very short space of time. Re-organising and prioritising the areas which matter has made an enormous difference to my ability to work efficiently and proactively. Life at work and home is now "easy"! The "noise" is now under control. Caroline has made change fun and exciting although the process was challenging. Achievements are acknowledged and there is far more focus in my live. It has now been four months since our final session and the toolkit which we built together is still in place and in action. A fantastic reference tool for business and personal life. For me it has been a great result and I would certainly recommend Caroline to colleagues and friends.
I have been very impressed with the level of commitment and professionalism exhibited by Caroline. Her ability to relate to staff, level of energy to keep them motivated and focused was extremely impressive especially under such stressful situations. This combined with a deep level of understanding of the organisation, the people and theory of change lead to a number of successful assignments.
We recently engaged Caroline on very short notice (less than 2 weeks) to facilitate a coming together of a new Top 25 leadership team as a result of the merger of an external acquisition with an existing internal operating business.
Caroline took our brief and desired outcomes and crafted a thoroughly engaging and rewarding 2 day workshop which was about aligning culture and creating a consistent vision and set of tangible business objectives for a large business unit (greater than 500 people). All the requirements of our brief were achieved without question.
A post workshop survey conducted with the team gave Caroline a 100% score for exceeding expectations as the facilitator.
I found her ability to understand our desired outcomes and then create a program which had a clear journey for the team to achieve the set objectives was superior to other facilitators I have worked with in the past. I would thoroughly recommend Caroline to anyone looking for a facilitator who can ensure your objectives are met and exceeded, who is consistently engaging and who can work the group and their individual characteristics for maximum team and business outcomes.
I was fortunate to have corporate coaching sessions with Caroline during a period of organisational change. Caroline helped me recognise my progress and enabled me to draw on my own strengths to address my goals. I was always assured that the very valuable "between" session calls (laser coaching) were never an imposition, and was able to use these sessions to clarify my decision-making processes through the most challenging moments. Caroline's innovative approach assisted me to expand my possible choices, to focus my thinking well, and to consider great alternatives. Being able to identify the “opportunities” that uncertainty can provide is a strength I gained. Caroline's expert coaching has enabled me to confidently apply my own insight and experience to any situation. She got to know me well , reflecting back at me an understanding of my situation, aspirations, goals, misgivings and limits….and then took me beyond them through our coaching sessions!
I was somewhat skeptical about the full value of executive coaching until I met and worked with Caroline who is absolutely brilliant. She has a wonderful way of stretching and challenging you to go further and critically evaluate yourself but also enables you to walk out of any coaching session feeling absolutely inspired about next steps. I would recommend Caroline's coaching to anyone who is looking for that next competitive edge but remains uncertain whether coaching can work. She is one of the best.
Thank you for your flexibility; you stepped in to a very challenging environment and I am and will continue to be grateful for your advice and the 'box of tools' you adapted for us. I am particularly excited about the impact assessment which will ferret out the knowledge gaps and enable a solid, evidence based training plan. The other thing I'm really excited about is the end-to-end ‘walk through’ - you've shown us how to engage our best talent to deliver a compelling story that builds enthusiasm for an automated future.
Caroline was an Org Change Management consultant whilst I was recruiting for Simplot. We recruited together for a large transition project. Her professionalism, knowledge of OCM and also her industry connections became immediately obvious. This, coupled with her engaging approach, made the recruitment of a challenging to find resource a pleasure. I would recommend her for consulting around the OCM piece for any organisation serious about change.
AMS engaged Caroline as a facilitator for a strategic planning day. Our current strategic plan was outdated and unused and we wanted something fresh and motivating. Caroline gave us a structure and template for the day which helped us to synthesise and document ideas for real change. Caroline also provided us with tools and follow up to ensure that the planning day achieved real outcomes and a pathway for success. Caroline's warm and engaging manner also helped to make the process effortless. I have no hesitation in recommending Caroline for facilitating strategic planning and happy to answer any queries you may have. Vicki Doherty
I invited Caroline to be my coach and guide as I retired from my CEO role. Caroline’s non judgmental, big picture, possibility thinking approach; along with her capacity to listen deeply and challenge helped me set priorities and chart and navigate a positive transition for the organization and for myself. I am now embarking on the next stage of my life journey. I have a clear vision of the life I want to live, how I want to relate to others and make a difference in the world. Whether working within an organization or working one on one with a person, Caroline’s deep listening skills, consistently positive attitude and belief that anything is possible creates the climate of trust and the scaffolding required to move from the present reality, vision the future and identify a plan to achieve it. I recommend working with Caroline and P2R to anyone who seriously wants to make positive changes in their lives or in their organizations. Our time together opened doors for me – thank you for the gift of your wisdom and time.
Spot on! I feel way more confident in my skills and leadership abilities now – this course is a must do for all emerging leaders.
Through her probing style, Caroline helped me find ways to open doors where all I had seen were walls. Within a short period of time, she helped me change some of the ways I dealt with business challenges I faced, which carried over into all aspects of my life. In her soft-spoken way, Caroline packs an inspirational punch!
Caroline's coaching is encouraging, challenging but gentle, and most importantly - focused on results. She creates change in the client by directing their inherent strengths towards their ambitions. The tools she uses to frame success are bespoke and effective. I benefited greatly from my sessions with Caroline - she helped me find a renewed gusto for my career and as a result I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead - and conquering them!
I strongly recommend Caroline to any executive leader looking to sharpen their focus on job and career.
I engaged Caroline to provide guidance and leadership to our change management team on a large transformation project. Her skill in change management is undeniable and her results speak for themselves. Caroline is a high impact player who brings a wealth of experience and applies it through an open mind and ear. Caroline anticipates issues and takes actions that prevent problems thereby removing much of the pain out of change management.
Caroline has also provided me career coaching support. Her approach challenged my own self limiting beliefs to open up thoughts and opportunities that I didn’t believe possible. Caroline is a truly inspiring change management professional and executive coach.
I have been privileged to have Caroline as an Executive coach over the last 2 years. Caroline is highly skilled, emotionally attuned and is able to skillfully challenge and re frame my thinking, alongside providing many strategies to overcome challenges and build my confidence and success as a leader. Caroline has assisted me to "dig deep" and really understand who I am, and what I stand for as a leader. Having the space and support to develop through coaching with Caroline has been a gift.
I had the pleasure of working with Caroline to reset my career goals and take stock of my workplace relationships. Caroline’s extensive background and experience across a range of organisations allowed her to expertly guide me through the subtleties of workplace culture and uncover missed opportunities to develop optimal outcomes for a variety of situations.
Whilst always managing to keep a smile, Caroline was able draw my attention to improvement opportunities and the positive aspects of every situation I encountered. Caroline’s infectious positive outlook and thorough knowledge of human behaviors enabled me to develop the skills I required to consciously flex my style to suit different client’s communication and learning styles.
Working with Caroline has been an absolutely life changing experience and I can truly say that I am a better person for having met and worked with her. Her calming and friendly conversational skills allow you to get to the root cause of discussion points, without making you feel uncomfortable. Caroline was always present and I was at the center of her time. She listens and makes what you're talking about really important and there's no need to hold back. Caroline has a very unique and special way of helping people become everything they hope to be.
I engaged Caroline as a coach, at a time I was seeking clarity around engineering a future direction for myself that would allow me to tap into my unique skills and be something I was truly engaged with. Caroline's coaching allowed me to really open up to the possibilities that were available to me, and previously impossible for me to see. Her structured program provided all the tools necessary to get a strategy out of my head and down on paper. The incredible insights and guidance from Caroline allowed me to map out that direction for myself with both clarity and conviction. The standout benefit to working with Caroline is her ability to see beyond boundaries for her clients, and in some cases simply not accept them, holding her clients to account and enabling them to take the first crucial steps towards their future. I would highly recommend Caroline for coaching and life design strategy. Her dedication and depth and range of experience is excellent.
As a coach and mentor Caroline provided me with great support and advice which has held me in good stead thoughout my career over the past three years. Without her help I dont think I would be where I am today.
Initially when thinking about professional coaching I wasn’t sure what to expect, or what it would really mean. After all, I knew that I would be confiding in someone I didn’t really know - scary stuff! Within the initial session Caroline was able to address my concerns. This was a professional relationship, not a friendship. From the first session, I felt comfortable with Caroline knowing that she wouldn’t judge me and that I could trust her with everything.
It is amazing and completely liberating to know that you can search, stretch and examine thoughts, aspirations and re-train your thinking without that feeling that you may hurt, disappoint or damage a key relationship in your life.
Through coaching I have redefined my boundaries and been able to accept that I can only control me – this was a major step for me and a path that Caroline expertly guided me through. Not once did Caroline tell me what to do, feel or behave. The success or failure of this, of me, was based solely on me.
Friends comment that following this experience I am much more grounded, self -aware, self-confident and trusting. Caroline was an amazing support and guide to me. Her capability to explore, examine and listen without telling me what to do was key to the success of this experience. Her patience and willingness to explore what is important to me without judgement was liberating.
I would recommend this experience to anyone who wishes to take their life to the next level, in another direction or address some of their self-limiting beliefs or overcome obstacles. My advice, in undertaking coaching with Caroline, is to give it 110%. Caroline will give you 110% and, as the old saying goes to get the most out it – go hard or go home. You will be only cheating yourself if you give it any less.
As a mentor and a coach Caroline has provided me with tremendous advice and guidance over a period of time. Caroline has an in-depth technical knowledge of coaching and matches this with an appropriate style to assist in enabling insights that previously could not be seen. I highly recommend Caroline.
From our first session, I immediately felt comfortable talking honestly and plainly with Caroline about aspects of my life that were confronting and were limiting the life I wanted to live. Opening up the hurt, fear, confusion and anger was a great relief, as was Caroline’s assurance that there was nothing about me that was “broken” that needed fixing. It was the first of many times she reminded me that within myself I already possessed everything I need for a great life. It’s tapping into that storehouse that needs a little focused attention. Understanding this was a great start.
Throughout our sessions, I was confident that Caroline was genuinely interested and involved in my personal journey and that she was on my side. Sympathetic and empathetic? Yes, Caroline is that! Vigilant and determined? Yes, I’m afraid Caroline is that too! - through regular follow ups she kept me honest and true to my affirmations.
I was elated to be able to share with Caroline the joy of achieving my goals. Even the smallest triumph served as a potent reminder for me that you do get what you focus on – and Caroline made every triumph a celebration.
Caroline’s coaching threw me a lifeline that I caught with both hands. I’m swimming under my own steam now and the harder I kick the more noise I make, the more space I take up, the bigger wake I leave behind me, and the more I revel in it.
I heartily recommend Caroline’s coaching style and approach and can vouch for the results.
Caroline is an incredible consultant who can nail what's needed in a second and plan an amazing intervention just as fast. She just 'gets' people and organisations. An inspiration!
Caroline is a senior consultant whose outstanding leadership and coaching abilities, exemplary stakeholder management abilities, strong conceptual and analytical thinking, and ability to work through complex and detailed situations make her a professional I would unreservedly recommend to employers and clients alike.
I have known Caroline for over a decade, initially as a consulting colleague and more recently I’ve engaged her on strategy and high performance team development assignments to support my own clients. I can recommend Caroline without reservation as a consummate professional, thoughtful advisor on change and transformation, brilliant facilitator and accomplished coach. She brings that rare combination of broad experience, powerful questions, deep insights, high inter-personal skills, unquestionable work ethic, high integrity and low ego – it’s all about YOU as the client and getting YOUR results, and on that basis I don’t know of any projects within Caroline’s influence that haven’t worked. So, when it’s about strategy or transformation I choose to work with Caroline whenever I can.
Caroline did a brilliant job with our team and we've got some very worthwhile projects to work on as a result. I heard great feedback from other team members too - everyone got so much out of it.
I was a coaching client of Caroline's and used the tools and strategies she provided to find new motivation, clear purpose and direction, and increased productivity and relaxation. The Great Life Redesign delivered all that was promised...and more. Caroline really provided a program to suit my needs and through the process supported me to make important changes to my belief patterns, daily structure, time management systems, decision making and an overall "game plan" for life - both professionally and personally. The strategies have not only helped to achieve my initial goals, but provided skills to take me forward into the future. This program provides an excellent "ROI" and I would recommend it to anyone wishing to take the next step in creating the life they want to lead.
Melbourne City Mission engaged Caroline's services on a number of occasions over the past 12 years to assist us in the development and implementation of a number of strategic processes.
Caroline's warm and relational style of engagement has been a great fit to our organisation, and her ability to assist us to take strategic concepts to completion has been an enormous benefit.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Melbourne City Mission has benefitted from Caroline’s expert ability to work with our strengths and potential to create tangible and successful outcomes. She has consistantly and generously gone 'above and beyond' the scope of the brief to support our work with disadvantaged communities.
Caroline draws upon a wide network of connections upon which to 'connect the dots' and has certainly brokered relationships and connections to assist me in the development of my services. She also draws upon a wealth of knowledge and insights to strengthen her approach to service. Whether it is facilitating a complex planning session, providing life coaching or writing detailed and comprehensive reports/submissions, Caroline's work at Melbourne City Mission has constantly been of an exceptionally high standard.
I highly recommend Caroline to you, and would be happy to provide personal reference for her work. I can be contacted either via LinkedIn, or through Melbourne City Mission.
Caroline is an extremely personable coach who has pushed my thinking and dared me to explore the "what if.." rather than the "what is.." This has helped me approach challenges as opportunities and not merely problems. Many thanks Caroline!
The biggest change I gained from coaching has been in my thinking and approach to my role, both from top strategic perspective and day to day responsibilities. My physical and mental energy reserves are higher and I am now lot more confident in dealing with any issues.
I have developed a strong capability to deal with my unhelpful internal dialogue. I have a better awareness of how I am feeling and what actions to take in dealing with negative or unhelpful thoughts and emotions.
As my coach, Caroline:
I was interested to meet Caroline Cameron at a group retreat and watch her in action as she made a life-coaching presentation to us. I was extremely impressed with how she made the session so productive for everyone present, and how she put into practice the fundamentals of her craft so clearly, concisely and meaningfully. I don’t think there was anyone in the room who remained untouched and unchanged by that experience. She made everyone think about their lives, their reality and their goals, and helped us all realise how simply we could put changes incrementally in place to effect a transition from what is, to what we’d like to be. The process proved pretty inspiring for all of us there, and we all agreed that it had been an amazing experience to be a part of. I’ve had sessions since with other life coaches and often been terribly disappointed. They can become so caught up in their own experiences, jargon, sources and meaningless acronyms that the time spent with them feels utterly wasted. With Caroline, on the other hand, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her for any life, lifestyle, career or executive coaching role. I feel very fortunate to have had the benefit of her time, experience, empathy and wisdom.
Before I started coaching with Caroline, I wasn’t enjoying my role and could see no light at the end of the tunnel. By the time I completed the P2R Executive Career and Leadership coaching program, everything had changed! By challenging my thinking, I was able to approach seemingly insurmountable problems in a way that significantly improved my work and relationships. I was then able to make critical decisions about my career which resulted in a new and exciting leadership role. As a good listener, Caroline helped me unlock a range of options to tackle each and every career and general work enjoyment ‘blocker’ posed. I always walked away from our sessions feeling empowered and confident. Now, I am highly engaged, happy and seeing bright prospects ahead.
Caroline was excellent – having been through several similar courses, this leadership program was by far the best I’ve ever done.
We were all enriched by Caroline's presentation - it was a real hit. It worked perfectly with the day and was absolutely focused on our people.
Caroline was a real revelation for me. She was referred to me at a crucial point in my career and helped me unlock a more productive and insightful working style. I would highly recommend Caroline for anyone looking for truthful and purposeful executive coaching.
Caroline, we had a great time with you on Monday morning. Your start to the meeting allowed us to really set the scene positively and with empowerment for the Team. Thanks for your presentation and the time to prepare it with us. You struck many chords with the teams, and we took away smart new ways to think about 'stuff'. The fact that the teams were referring back to your words after you left was a great sign of impact. I liked the Yodaism - Do or Not Do. There is no try. I also liked the 'Be Do Have' approach and will incorporate into my field days pre customer calls with my team.
Perhaps you've found yourself drifting, unwillingly, into the Talking Heads’ song, Once in a Lifetime: "Letting the days go by / let the water hold me down". Perhaps you're starting to wonder, "Where does that highway go? / And you may ask yourself / Am I right? ...am I wrong? / And you may tell yourself / My god!...what have I done?" I'm not sure I thought about it at the time – I don't even particularly like the song – but in retrospect I think these lyrics approximate the indecisive and diffident state I found myself in, floating aimlessly, but at least beginning to heed an increasingly insistent inner voice calling for change and growth.
If this resonates with you, then I sincerely recommend Caroline Cameron to you. Her coaching expertise and experience, coupled with her enthusiasm, commitment and admirable personal qualities, are a very potent combination, well designed to help anyone ready to make the necessary individual effort, to achieve fundamental, lasting and above all positive personal change.
Caroline’s approach differs from more mechanistic, structured or task-based coaching frameworks that I’d sampled. Her techniques are subtle (and thus difficult to articulate with great precision), her enormous skill as a coach is unobtrusive, and she is highly responsive to the individual’s pace, needs and issues, while remaining quietly focused on the desired outcomes.
Some weeks after completing a coaching course with Caroline, I’ve found she has indeed imparted skills that I am able to apply effectively, independently of the structure and security of the coaching relationship. I may still be learning to swim, but the water no longer holds me down and I'm swimming my own course. I'd urge you to take the plunge too.
I wasn't sure I really wanted to work with a coach. But I'm so pleased I chose Caroline to work with. I got more out of my sessions with her than I ever expected. I've now got a tool bag with so many practical and helpful tools on it and with a good knowledge of which ones to use everyday. Caroline is a brilliant coach - knows how to ask the right questions, how firm to be and with the right amount of heart and laughs. Brilliant!
Thank you to Caroline for your energy, drive and patience with us. We set an ambitious target of defining our purpose, setting our vision and working out how we could achieve it. After a very full and draining day, I am proud of what we achieved as our foundation and particularly the spirit in which we all got there.
As the MD for one of the largest networks of Coaches, I get to meet and work with some amazing people. Caroline is the best in her class and has a 100% track record for commitment and execution. She is highly skilled, exceptionally talented, totally reliable and the type of professional that will deliver nothing short of excellence. She is delightful to work with and builds great relationships and creates safe environments where critical conversations can take place. Great things always come when you have Caroline on your team.
Caroline's talk on resilience was my favourite topic - it's so relevant in today's world to be resilient, present, expansive, honest and understanding. Thank you for sharing how simple it is to build our resilience muscles.
When I was offered a role as a Project Officer for a major change project, it was is very different from my usual role as Nurse Coordinator. I knew it was a great opportunity but had reservations about taking on something that I didn’t have a great deal of experience in.
The one thing that tipped my decision was the offer of working with an ‘External Consultant’ who I was told would help guide me through the process. This person was Caroline Cameron who did more than ‘guide’ me through managing a project!
I cannot speak highly enough of Caroline’s approach, manner and obvious wealth of knowledge in a vast array of areas that related to not only the project but also my own professional development. Working with Caroline gave me excellent direct access to learning as well as invaluable encouragement and insight into how to put this learning into practice.
Working on the project has been a great experience for me, and I attribute the success of this experience to the fact that I was so well supported and mentored throughout by an expert in change management and many other fields which is quite rare in the health care setting!!
Thank you very much for all of the assistance, drive and change leadership that you have provided to help us achieve the foundation for uplifting our project capability. You have helped create a real momentum and the uplift generally. Your enthusiasm, pragmatic approach and change expertise have been very valuable in helping us on this journey. I would rate you as one of the best change management practitioners that I have worked with!
Caroline was sensational during our Coaching. Authentic, non evasive, able to support me to see & bring on my potential without being directive. Caroline was always professional with a dash of humour and personable always. Structured whilst able to think outside of the box! I am thankful for our time together. It was a turning point, one that I continue to learn from.
Moving from middle management to a senior leadership role I knew I would have to take a different
approach. Coaching with Caroline gave me the skills and confidence I needed to clarify the type of
leader I want to be and successfully navigate a team restructure. Challenging me to step outside my
comfort zone, Caroline armed me with the beliefs, techniques and approaches I needed to step out
of the detail; see the bigger picture and work strategically to achieve it. She has a great way of
drawing on your past experience, developing your strengths and helping you convert your ideas into
outcomes and I recommend her to anyone who is ready to take the next step in their career.
This program exceeded all my expectations. There’s always a risk of trying to cram too much in but this program covered the right amount and type of topics for me to grasp and apply what I’ve learned.
As well as being great to work with, Caroline is an expert coach and motivational speaker who knows her stuff! We engaged Caroline as the life coach for a Financial Health Retreat - to help our guests see their personal finances in a bigger life picture. The event was informal and Caroline was a critical part of creating a relaxed and engaging event.
Our guests were mainly media representatives, which suited Caroline's ability to communicate in detail while keeping an eye on the big picture - all the time being genuine and personable. She has a great ability to connect easily with people and her group sessions are highly interactive - there are no passengers in Caroline's sessions! She also provided some incredibly practical tools.
I would highly recommend Caroline to anyone who wants their event to create a positive impact, long after it is over.
Caroline is a life-changing executive coach. She has challenged me to think more laterally about my career through in-depth identification of my skill set and potential. She is highly skilled at coaching through a variety of complex scenarios that senior executives encounter. Be prepared to be challenged, step well outside of your comfort zone and to learn not to settle for anything less than what you are truly capable of.
Each of us has enormous potential to make a real and tangible difference – to make our lives count and the world a better place in our own unique way. I’ll help you tap into your potential and unlock your ability to make positive change happen.
I don’t do change for you or to you. I do change with you – helping you every step of the way until you aspire to is achieved. I give you the support, strategies, skills and clarity to decide how you want it to be; map out a plan to achieve it and take the necessary steps to make it real.
I’m passionate about change and believe every problem has a solution. There are no barriers that can’t be overcome and creating your future is all about identifying what’s possible and converting it into a reality.
All that said, my journey to here has been anything but smooth sailing!
My first real experience of leadership happened when I was asked to be School Captain in Year 12. This coveted role was given to someone selected by students and teachers and I didn't for one minute think it would be me! One of my friends had publicly campaigned for the job and desperately wanted it. And, we all knew she'd get it.
When the headmaster called me into his office and asked me to do the job, my first reaction was total surprise - 'Who... ME?' I asked incredulously. My next reaction was what I now recognise as heart-pounding fear. What if I can't do it? What if they find out I'm not up to the job? My friend (who wanted the job) will never talk to me again. I really don't know how to do this!
As I stood up in front of the school at assembly for the first time I was paralyzed with terror! With all eyes on me, face flushing and hands trembling, my job was to ask everyone to be quiet so assembly could begin. Aaaargh! i was stunned when the school hall did fall silent and quickly.
Little by little my confidence grew and by the end of the year I'd stopped worrying, just a little bit! After all, what was the worst that could happen?
After graduating, I gained a job as a Play Therapist at the world famous Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children in London, where they treat the sickest children from across the UK and Europe. At the ripe old age of 23, I was responsible for helping children overcome their fear of hospital, illness and often painful treatment through play.
One of my greatest teachers was Robin, a previously health 7 year old who had contracted a rare disease from a mosquito bite whilst living with his family in Egypt.
Emergency air lifted to the hospital, his whole body was covered in horrendous infectious ulcers and besides being wracked with excruciating pain, the disease had ulcerated his eyelids, leaving him totally blind. Terrified and confused, he would scream whenever anyone came into his room and helping him was a daunting prospect when I had so little experience.
For hours and weeks on end, I'd sit at the door to his room reading him stories, reassuring him that I wouldn't enter his room until he gave me permission. One day, in the middle of a story, he interrupted me and said, 'Caroline, I would like to do some painting!'
Robin painting 'Green Monsters' marked the beginning of his recovery as he took control of what was within his control
That was the turning point for Robin. When he happily walked out of hospital several months later, proudly carrying his 'Green Monster' paintings (that he couldn't see, but had gained a sense of agency and freedom by doing), I realised I had helped him break through the seemingly insurmountable barriers he faced. Thanks to Robin, I learnt how to:
Fast forward a few years (and with limited opportunities to be a Play Therapist in Australia at the time), I changed direction and started my climb through the business world. Little did I know then that helping adults adapt to change (especially change they neither asked for or wanted), would often draw on the lessons I learnt from those brave children I played with.
With no idea what I really wanted to do, I found myself opportunistically and randomly changing careers and jobs! I moved from country NSW to Melbourne to support my then husband through his mid-life career change, whilst he studied to become a vet. With a beautiful 14 month old daughter, my #1 priority was to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads.
While the next 15 years looked like this:
They actually felt more like this!
My Crazy Career Path
At 37 I decided to become a management consultant to broaden my experience. Truth be told, when people asked me why I changed careers so many times, my response of 'I just haven't figured out yet what I want to be when I grow up,' was starting to sound lame, even to me!
I was consulting for a boutique IT management consultancy and, as I don't have a technical bone in my body, I figured I could help with the 'people stuff'.
This was long before Change Management became a thing and initially it involved writing newsletters for IT system implementation projects so they could tick the Communications box on the project plan.
Working for insurance companies, banks, utilities, telcos and non-government agencies, I started to notice how much people really struggled with change. No matter the project or the client, this was a common theme and I started to wonder why.
It was as if someone, somewhere had said, 'Change is HARD!' , and everyone wholeheartedly accepted this as true.
To be fair, I was grappling with change in my life too as a newly single mum, working 60+ hour weeks and struggling to keep my head above water.
Over the next few years I progressed to writing Change Management Strategies for organisations experiencing the realities of acquisitions, mergers, divestments, restructures and the introduction of web enabled technologies. I became increasingly aware that how we do business isn’t the easiest or best way to make change happen.
One day (to prove my theory), I inserted a short passage from Alice In Wonderland into the middle of a Change Management Strategy I’d been slaving over for a large corporate client.
I sent the document to the Executive team to review and scheduled a meeting to have it approved. The 8 very senior and busy executives were jovial as the meeting started. Signing off the strategy was a major milestone completed and simply another tick in the box on the project plan.
As unanimous approval was received and they prepared to move on to the next agenda item, I drew their attention to the rogue passage and curiously asked how Lewis Carroll’s inadvertent contribution had helped inform their decision making. Sheepishly, they all admitted they’d only read the Executive Summary!
Don’t get me wrong, written communication is very important, but lengthy documents and copious emails don’t make change happen…. So what does? Then it occurred to me -
“It's not big fat strategy documents that make change happen -
it's what people THINK, BELIEVE, FEEL, CHOOSE, SAY and DO.”
Caroline Cameron
This defining moment sparked my determination to discover how to make change easier and more successful.
It was around then that my life had to change too. Facing a painful divorce, my resistance strategy was ‘gritty determination’. As a single mum with a mortgage and no child support, I struggled and it was hard, but couldn’t see any other way to survive.
Working long hours in the corporate world was curiously comforting because I was surrounded by people also struggling with change.
No one seemed to have the answer and we were an 'in the trenches', united resistance movement. Like a duck - seemingly in control as I glided across the water - my feet paddled furiously below the surface as I tried to stay afloat!
Driving home one cold, dark winter's night in torrential rain, rushing to get my daughter to ballet on Melbourne's clagged Monash Freeway, a large semi jack-knifed in front of me.
I swerved off the road and stopped.
Badly shaken, heart pounding, windscreen wipers thrashing, hazard lights on, I rested head on steering wheel.
Visions of a horrific car accident I'd been in when I was 6 came flooding back and I suddenly realised – resistance to change is futile.
If my life was going to change, I was the only one who could change it.
That near miss, started me on a journey to discover how to take the struggle out of change. I knew I had to change what I thought, believed, said, chose and did.
I enrolled in a year’s intensive professional coach training, lost 25 kg, reclaimed my life & discovered surprisingly simple ways to harness the power of change.
Throughout my coaching training, I learnt how to reframe the stories I'd been telling myself and my life so far started to make a lot more sense.
Working through frontline to executive level roles wasn't a random quest to figure out what I wanted to do. Rather, the accumulated experience enabled me to truly understand and deeply empathise with the challenges my clients face.
The relief I felt at being able to change my circumstances and take control of my life was immense. For the first time ever, it started to feel as though anything was possible.
I hadn't gone into coaching to start a business (losing the regular paycheck was still way too scary!). But the more I learnt, the more I changed and I knew I had found my purpose - the unique difference that I had been put on this earth to make.
If exploring, understanding and reconfiguring my old stories was helping me, surely it could help others too.
Over the next two years I moonlighted - working by day as a consultant whilst pursuing my coaching side hussle - helping people to harness the power of change. The results were remarkable. Change challenges they'd struggled with for years were overcome in a heartbeat!
In the evenings and weekends I practiced my coaching until I knew I was ready to back myself and take the leap. Stepping out of my comfort zone, I resigned, stepped off the corporate treadmill and set up Possibility to Reality in 2005.
My aim was and always will be to move ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things. I’ve been honored to help hundreds of professional people, teams and businesses test the limits, break the shackles and blow open the opportunities to create the future they want and their results inspire me.
My ‘make change easy’ journey has taken me all round Australia and the world. Coaching senior executives in Melbourne, passionate young entrepreneurs in Johannesburg, journalists in the Daintree Rainforest, local government leaders in Western Australia, clients from Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand and working with coaches from the UK, America and Dubai – they all share one thing…
They all have a strong desire to make their difference count and awareness that only they can make it happen.
